About EHE Health

What is EHE Health’s mission?

EHE Health is the preeminent nationwide provider of preventive healthcare, serving employers and their employees for over 100 years. Our comprehensive approach to preventive care and well-being is a lifetime investment in our members health, productivity and longevity

What does EHE Health specialize in?

EHE Health specializes in the early detection of diseases and health risks. We aim to help people live healthier lives through comprehensive preventive health care services

How is this different from my regular annual physical?

A standard annual physical is designed to address what’s in front of you — current symptoms, medication management, and basic wellness checks. This exam is built specifically for prevention and early detection. That means more screenings, more time with your physician, and a deeper look at your long-term health — including risks that wouldn’t show up in a routine visit.

Will your services cost me anything?

Those on the Employer-Sponsored Membership receive access through a participating employer and receive all services at no additional cost and without a copay.* Those on the EHE Membership receive access independently, and services are paid for directly by the individual.

*Program availability and cost are determined by your employer.

Is this insurance?

No. This is a preventive health care benefit. Your insurance is still your insurance. Taking advantage of this exam will not impact your health insurance coverage.

About Prevention

What is prevention?

Prevention focuses on the prevention of disease and illness rather than treatment. Focusing on prevention first helps spot issues early and reduces the risk of developing problems later on.

Most primary care focuses on sick care, leaving limited time to spend on preventive care. EHE Health is committed to preventive care because we know that early detection and intervention significantly reduces mortality and illness risks! Even when preventive care is provided through traditional primary care physicians, it is incomplete due to time and capacity constraints. Our physicians spend meaningful, unrushed time assessing patient health and lifestyle factors and engaging in shared decision making on preventive measures (i.e., immunizations, cancer screening options, etc…).

How can I prioritize prevention in everyday life?

Eating balanced, nutritious meals, getting exercise that’s appropriate for you, managing stress, developing a positive mental attitude and other factors are key to prevention. To learn more about these and other health topics from our experts, go to our blog here.

What kinds of issues can the exam detect?

Your exam is designed to identify early indicators of a wide range of conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers, and metabolic issues — many of which develop without noticeable symptoms.

Has this exam really helped people reveal an illness early?

Yes — and it happens more often than most people expect. Conditions like hypertension, prediabetes, and early-stage cancers are regularly identified in people who had no symptoms and no idea anything was developing. That’s exactly what this exam is designed to do.

The Exam Experience

What actually happens during my exam?

Your exam is a comprehensive, physician-led visit that covers a lot of ground in a single, well-organized appointment. You’ll go through a full lab panel, cardiovascular assessments, cancer screenings, and other evaluations tailored to your age and health history. At the end of your visit, your physician will walk you through your results, flag anything worth paying attention to, and help you understand your next steps.

What tests are included in my visit?

All the screenings are clinically indicated for your needs and risks. This includes:

  • Standard measurements, such as vital signs and body composition.
  • Screenings & risk assessments, including a cardiorespiratory test, mental health evaluation, and vision/hearing screenings.
  • Lab work to test cholesterol levels, blood sugar, and more.
  • Additional follow-ups, such as a screening mammogram, bone density scan, and colonoscopy.
How long does the exam take?

Most exams take 45 minutes to one hour. It’s a thorough visit by design — one that’s unhurried and focused entirely on you.

Are any of the tests optional?

Of course. We give you the opportunity to experience our full range of the latest preventive screenings, as well as age and gender appropriate evaluations for heart health, cancer, mental health, and other risks. Each EHE Health visit is personalized for you, and you can opt out of certain offerings if you prefer.

How do I know the screenings I'm getting are the right ones for me?

Your exam starts with a core set of clinically recommended screenings. From there, your care team tailors what you receive based on your age, personal health history, family history, and individual risk factors.

Do I have to fast before my exam?

Only if you are over 50 and scheduled for a cardiovascular screening. We’ll give you simple instructions for preparing, including what to wear.

Will EHE Health write prescriptions for any medications I may need?

EHE Health provides preventive health, but not prescriptive pharmaceutical treatment. Your medications will be managed by your primary care physician or a specialist.

Can EHE Health refer me to specialists?

If our physician identifies a health concern that requires examination by a specialist, we can coordinate a referral for you. EHE Health can also help you find a primary care physician if you do not have one.

What about follow-up visits?

While most patients are eligible for the full comprehensive health exam once per enrollment period, our physician-led expert medical team and health mentorship program are included in your EHE Health benefit and available as part of your year-round prevention program. You’ll even be able to come back to track your progress with health goals like weight loss or lowering your cholesterol.
